Default Strange Suspension issue

I have been working on getting my car ready for the warmer weather, and have run into a few issues. The biggest of which is:

When I accelerate heavily at all, the car (front end) feels like it slides to the right... then when I let off the gas, it feels like it slides to the right. Ball joints were bad, so I replaced those. Bought poly replacement bushings for the sway bar and end links (front and rear) but haven't put them in yet (hopefully this weekend they will be in) It feels very odd In how much it feels like it slides to the right or left.

Any suggestions on what to look at next?

I don't think sway bar bushings are going to solve this problem.

Checking out the rear suspension on a C4.

When you are sliding to the right, were you at a stop and did you just push the gas pedal all the way down? Is the engine going real fast compared to your car speed? Is smoke and noise coming from the rear tires? That's normal. Just don't do that when police are around.

you mighg not need bushings. my understanding is that rear diffs can do this as well. so far ive nit had this happen to me but i have read about clutchpacks going in the diff and then you squirrelly rear end when mashing the pedal?

anybody with experience chime in on this? am i misguided here?

The rear on mine wasn't as tight as I'd like, while upgrading the to Banski kit I found worn bushings in particular the camber rods. Once upgraded, definitely tightened the rear up and eliminated some noises too.

Sounds like a bushing issue to me. You will be amazed at how much some bushings will change the way your car behaves under power and braking. I would start with trailing arm bushings. Those are responsible to locating your rear wheels during suspension travel. My car would shift (but not steer only the body felt like it shifted) to the right when accelerating and would squat down in the back and give a little wiggle when I got a high RPM 1 - 2 shift. I replaced the trailing arm bushings with Poly and OMG it was a new car. No more shift on acceleration and now I could chirp the tires on the 1 -2 shift instead of having the old rubber eat up all the power. It made such a difference that I'm now doing front upper and lower control arm bushings and ball joints. PITA job but should pay high dividends. The sway bar bushings may improve body roll a little but will likely not correct the turning you have described.

I have read a bit on this too. Seems that this is a common issue when the toe links start to fail. On vacation out of state now, will start the investigation when I get home. Already bought poly bushings for the sway bar. Figure, may as well do them.. cause.. well I don't think anyone did them ever. looks like the popular toe link set up everyone suggested, is not longer made by banski, Any other suggestions on a replacement set up?

Thanks!
George D.

New suspension parts may affect your alignment. Ball joints, tie rod ends, most bushings (except sway bar links), etc.
