And yes I ran a search, just didn't really find what I was looking for.
Here is the dilemma, tire size -vs- ride quality -vs- depth of pocketbook, height of heels
Background, I have a 1996 Z51 option, so I have P275/40 ZR17 tires on all for corners. When I bought the car, the folks put on Tiger Paws as part of the deal so I wouldn't have to drive over 200 miles home on the freeway on 20 yr old tires (had the original Goodyears on it)
The Tiger Paws are noisy noisy noisy (at least on my car) on some types of pavement on the highway. When we go to Carlisle this year, I will be stark raving mad if I have to listen to these tires all the way. We took the car out did a drive and at 75 they are like we have tank treads instead of wheels and tires.
So who is running what and are happy with tires in this size ????
Also, if someone here in Ohio close to me needs a set of noisy Tiger Paws to sell a car I will be selling them. They have recent DOT code dates (from last year) and about 3000 miles on them.
I have NITTO 555's all around in the same size and love them. Been on there for almost 4 years now and are not noisy yet and haven't worn them down but about maybe 1/2 way! A little less traction than when they were new, but I've not been easy on them either. I've put a LOT of highway miles on them. I rotate them front to rear every 8 to 10k so they are all pretty equal.

NITTO's 555 are a popular choice here. I have them on mine and like the look and ride of them, don't seem noisy. I can't rotate mine as the backs are bigger then the fronts on my 96, but them seem to wear well too.
Summit has both listed. I can pick them up there as with tax the final price is lower than trying to find a set of the Continentals. My buddy has a discontinued set of Continentals on his car and he likes them.
I have a set of 275/40/17 Continental DW tires on all four corners on my '95 and like them a lot.
Tire Rack is having a closeout of the Continental DW 285/40/17 tires. They are only $99.36 each with a $70 rebate on a set of 4. (so $81.86 per tire plus shipping)
They say 2013 production on their web site, but there is another thread that bought them and they were October 2016 tires. I bought a set and they were October 2016 tires also. I suspect that is all they have in stock, but you may be able to confirm the date codes. If you get new ones, that is the best deal I have seen in a long time on a great tire.
I have the Z51 also on my '96 and have been ultra impressed with the BFG G-Force on the highway and on the 'twisties' here in the mountains. No road noise. $816.00 'out the door' for a set of 4 last summer.Attachment 48082499

I am running the 555 G2s, which are supposed to be superior in every way except for tread wear. I really like them on my '92 coupe.
I've been running Goodyear GSD3s on my 95 Z07 and I love them. They are however not inexpensive at close to $300.00 each. They are however still made in the USA.

I just replaced my 555's with 555 G2's on the rear (315/35/17). The G2's are quieter and hook up much better.
Michelin Pilot Sport PS2. Got a set from tire rack last summer. Love them. Great ride, quiet and very sticky. I bought them because I have a set of Pilot Super Sports on my BMW and it rides better that it did new (came with continentals which were so noisy by 10k miles that BMW gave me new Michelins for $100.00 total (which I replaced with the PSS's because of age not wear). I have had many other problems with continental so I won't buy from them anymore. The Michelins are pricey but most good things are...and can you put a price on safety? I drive this car pretty fast sometimes...

Definitely agree but a summer tire only. I had them on my Trans Am and it was probably the best tire I have ever owned. Just superb and like you said, pricey! I only buy "Made in USA' tires too. The BFG G-Force are "Made in USA" as well.
Upgraded to Collectors Edition Wheel and have NT05s (4) so I can rotate them.
Only had them a couple of months, so still "breaking" them in.
So far so good.
Definitely a summer tire, though.
I have the same tire on my 96 GS 275fronts/315rears. I don't drive in the rain so not worried about that aspect however in dry conditions they offer a road race tire grip. I opted to buy the road hazard certificates from Discount Tire being these tires are very sticky picking things up off the road easily.

Another vote for G-Force. Had them on the car when I bought it. They were good but getting old. Just upgraded rims and got new ones. Handle great, no noise issues and reasonably priced.
