Howdy all, been a loooooooooooog time since I've been here on the forums. Can anyone help me with the first string of digits in the VIN code for a 1996?
Long story short I am trying to see if an old Corvette of the families is still out there somewhere. I know the last few digits that would identify the vehicle, but don't know the first part.

Cheers!
Is the car a coupe or a 'vert? I've sent you an email asking a couple questions. Answer that best you can and I can likely help!!
You could take that VIN to a GM dealer parts department and ask that they run it for options and see if the color is a match for you. The other VIN after I tweaked it some didn't offer up any mileage history and maybe it wasn't actually valid. I got a little creative!
Good to see that it worked for you!! If it was your Father's or Grand Father's I'd say go after it.
Some people search for years and have way more information. Being a '96 and a 6MT made it much easier.
The for sale thread mentioned "spare tire delete" - it seems to maybe have been a very well optioned car. Maybe have a dealer run the VIN for options and consider looking further!

It is a fairly special car . The current owner probably doesn't even realize what it is even aside from the sentimental value it has for me...
Well an ebay user name of the last person to sell it is all I have at this point, I sent them a message through ebay but have not heard anything back yet.
