Default support beam bolts

The rear support beam bolt is stuck in the diff housing. After removing diff with support beam still attached, I tried everything i could to remove the bolt. would not turn, would not hammer out without damage to the bolt. I thought of using heat but did not want to damage anything. I have been working on special cars for 55 years, 40 years as a business. I have a ton of knowledge to offer, but I dont know everything

You posted this same question yesterday and there were responses. There were questions for you also in that thread.

Do you have AIR? The air chisel and "blunt tip" I still think the best after maybe a soak and then twisting. There's "windows" in the differential side and I'd think you could soak easily at all of the points required.

thank you to all members that replied to my question. i will consider all all the advice i received. i will not be addressing the stuck support beam bolt hopefully until snow falls. been working the c4 for almost 2 years and only recently drove the vette a week ago for the first time. hopefully i can get the summers worth of driving. i have a built l98 i plan to put in, although the l98 it has now runs impressively. i also want to install a 2:43 first gear gear set. hopefully it will be a fun summer. thanks again members. i hope to get better in navigating this forum

I don't know that the 2.43 would be a very good mix for the 3.07 rear gear! Also the 2d &3d ratios with the 2.43 T10 seem to be skewed towards the maybe NOT desired. It's a thought that's not mentioned often.

If I understand your issue, you have bolts stuck in the holes that won't turn out. Something that's been done for severely rusted and corroded bolts on old woodworking equipment with the best results is a 50-50 mix of acetone and ATF. It seems to break down rust and corrosion better than some of the purchased products. Soak it in, let it set and repeat over a week or more time. Another is shocking it with things like an impact wrench on a low setting. I've seen this done on bolts on 100+ year old machines and were able to get things loose that other methods failed.

Good luck.

You're probably already aware of this product but in our boat building shop we use KROIL by Kanolabs. Spray on and let set 24 hours spray again let set another 24 hours........... has always worked for us.

Best of luck

Done Kroil, WD40 and several others in the past. Definitely try the ATF/Acetone, I've seen it work when the others didn't and it's not very expensive to try.
