Coming back to life after almost a decade in storage. Engine is not smooth and suspect clogged injectors. Gave a shot of Lucas injector cleaner but no help so far:
Can they be manually cleaned/cleared if they have sat for a long time and become corrupted?
I've heard about kits to remove the original injector system and upgrade to the next level that was supposedly much less problematic. Is this a worthwhile thing to do and what would be approximate cost?

You shouldn't believe those "fix in a can" stuff. Easy way is to send it HERE.

Problematic? The CFI system is about as reliable as anything! It just needs to be free of intake manifold vacuum leaks (common problem) and have good engine sensors. I have 240,000 miles on my '84, and the CFI has never been touched!
Is the spray pattern from your injectors a smooth cone? No dribbling? This photo caught an injector pulse mid-stream! Look at the spray pattern with an ignition strobe light.
They are old enough. I'd send them out for testing instead of trying to peek at it with a strobe light. Not like it can't benefit from cleaning after all this while.
