I feel it important to lay down this quote:
To all of my friends and new friends serving past and present (Although once a marine ALWAYS a marine I am told by those marine friends I have.) Thank you!
Today...is Christmas! There will be a magic show at 0930! Chaplain Charlie will tell you about how the free world will conquer Communism with the aid of God and a few Marines! God has a hard-on for Marines. Because we kill everything we see! He plays His games, we play ours! To show our appreciation for so much power, we keep heaven packed with fresh souls! God was here before the Marine Corps! So you can give your heart to Jesus, but your *** belongs to the Corps! Do you ladies understand?

Very nice looking car. For me the Corvette always screamed American exceptionalism. Served my country for 24 years and dreamed of owning one of these beauties since I was a kid. Now that I have one I think about doing some kind of patriotic or Coast Guard theme paint job.

Burning Brakes
I just caught this comment.. "I had an ad in the local Swap Sheet for....$1,000? and a couple kids showed up, raving about putting a 421 or something in it, going to make a total animal out of it etc. Turned me off, and I was somewhat of a dick about it. Wanted me to come down on price (which I had planned on) but I said no, wanted to give me a check to hold it till they could get the rest, I said no, etc."..
It reminded me of something 2 years ago. I bot if a digression but what the heck... Backdrop Bicycling.. big thing in my life.. always has been. Actually fell out of drag racing in my late teens and 'found' bicycle racing. To me it was sort of drag racing, stock car racing (side by side action), and demolition derby (the crashes) all rolled up into one sport
On my cycling club, we have a older gent, stand up guy, now 84 years young. Each year he adds a mile to his age and we ride a ride with him = to his age. 84 miles last fall. God love him.
So he goes to sell his pride 1990's Merc Marquise. Some ding-bat kids come by. He is reluctant.. but figs the kids need a break.. nice car for some late teens. They sort of convince him it is going to a good home. So he sells it to them with trepidation.. He takes me aside some weeks later, and say's .. Jim.. what to you make of this letter ???... dejected look on his face... He shows me a terse letter..... 'Hey old man.. what do you think of your car now !!!!'. and in the letter are 4 pics of his car... set up just before a demo derby with all ghetto graphic painted in it, and after the demo derby.. well.. looking like a car looks like after a demo derby.
I mean some times.. what the F is the world coming to ???
