Many of the C4s have had multiple owners and some didn't take care of them properly.

On the other hand, I think they are a lot of car for the money they are going for. I get a lot of compliments from people who admire the styling of my original owner '86 Coupe.

I don't disagree with you. Consider how many are bagged out high mile turds.... that makes spending a few grand more on a low mile, well maintained example justifiable to me. Bang for the buck.... these cars are a steal.

A lot of people don't remember the old days when Chrysler products were a dime a dozen.... try buying any Cuda, Challenger, or even a Coronet these days.... not even a special example... a pile of junk is 20 grand!! There was a time when the Super Birds couldn't be given away... now theyre 250k !!! Every dog has its day as they say.... I don't know about you guys, but I very seldom see a nice early C4 rolling down the road... When I do see one, its a turd.... Supply & demand will dictate prices as they always have.

this is a good thing; when you mention they are cheap everyone gets butthurt. Typically cars that appreciate and are in demand are way out of this price range ...people arent lining up to buy C4s and probably never will.

Price of the older iron are through the roof but that is already changing they are just too much money....cant give mine away unless its literally given away.

Today one can just go to a dealer sign papers and drive out with a 11 or 12 second car with a warranty and 30mpg not worth it for the old stuff unless you just love it.
Worrying about profit or appreciation is a huge waste of time unless you are just flipping it.

Edit: even if they did jump up by the time you store insure and maintain the car you arent making squat, toys are almost 100% wallet drainers so dont worry about it....pondering is one thing if it becomes stre$$ful just sell the car and find a cheaper hobby. Personally never worried about it the minute you buy a car plan on it costing, the benefit is in enjoyment thats priceless

Agreed, I've always loved C4s so when I venture into the for sale section I'm amazed at the prices. When I bought my 1st C4 it was back in 2001, in those days I could never afford a Z, CE/LT4 or GS...now? Yeah I can and not because I have some money to toss around, it's because of the values/depreciation and that makes me glad to love C4s.

I agree with both of you.... but like all things... there will be a day when C4's are worth decent money... good or bad... I truly think that it will eventually happen. Remember there were 2 million F bodys of the 2nd generation built. Particularly the 79 MY.... which was the highest production numbers ever for the generation. Check the prices on a damn Berlinetta these days, much less a Z28.... Every dog has its day man....

Love how good your '86 looks! Pic is taken from a very flattering angle.

is it a possible 'fake post' where the poster wants to buy a c4, so they create a fake low ball listing. then the fake poster beats someone up on autotrader who is selling the c4 they want and waves the fake ad (and low asking price) in their face in hopes of crowbar-ing them into a lowball deal ????

ive had people do that to me on rental property i own before
The problem is that the C4 is viewed as a low performance Corvette, hence the current pricing

At a certain price point, I am buying a C5.

I paid $2300 for my C4, running, immaculate body just needs the AC controls fixed/bad head unit. And that's here in Florida. I stole it for that price.

IMO My stock c4 was built for some old office guy cruising or riding on the free way with the top down and getting decent gas mileage in a "vette" since they all complained of the early z51 cars being too sporty and raw. lol.

auto,2.59 gear, base everything... JUNK!!!

I got it with 80k on it for 8k in '07 and it felt like a 1970's dodge. cosmetically it was nice. I paid too much IMO but I wanted something that I knew what it was.

I'm proud to say literally other than the lights and seats and some body panels I can't think of anything really left of the original car I bought.

Now its getting to be a fun car, well worth the money in it now TO ME. I'd be a fool to sell it correct its worth a c4 and I'd be giving away 30k+ worth of parts plus hundreds of hours of shop labor.

Well the lady who sold me hers definitely didn't sell it for cheap. And I should have paid a little less but I was dying to get into a sports car and the color combo w/ the 6 speed was really hard to find.

Paid more but saved many hrs on extra searching!

93 Ruby Red roadster, 14700 miles, 6 speed manual trans, new Continental tires and Magnaflow stainless steel exhaust, have an offer for 11,500 and I countered with 14,000, that's where its at, who knows what the actual selling price will be when it sells, in most cases asking price and selling price are 2 different figures.

$14k sounds right with those incredibly low miles. The right buyer will come along if the car is truly excellent.

That's what I thought, looks like I will go the Ebay or Cragslist route this weekend ( not my favorite way to go ), will ask 16k and hope I will get a serious offer at 13k-14k and the car will have a new owner.

Lot's of luck, will monitor Craigslist. Wonder if that dealer sold the C5 with about 15,000 miles yet. They wanted like $25k Months ago.

Just checked........NOPE

1. Do the complements pay anything towards the car cost?

2. Do they even know the difference in styling between the generations?

What EXACTLY does Corvette DNA base the pricing on? I haven't seemed to get a clear answer. Is it wishful thinking or is it really using sold prices in your area?
