I welcome your feedback for a possible fix where the headliner fastens to the side support. A second opinion of sorts before I go screw something up. Someone to say "don't ******* do that because..."
The Velcro loops no longer hold and replacement would require removing the headliner, a project I am hesitant to tackle if not required. I am considering installing marine snaps where indicated by arrows. I was unable to find any past posts that may shed light on what others may have come to for a solution. The caps of the snaps would be black and blend into the headliner. This area of the headliner is also reinforced plastic, so I think the chances of tearing are minimal. The snap sockets are stainless but would be hidden at all times top up or down. Thoughts, comments, curses ??
Thank you !

On my top, the velcro fabric flap was still good, but the 'plastic' loop piece on the vert frame was bad, and peeling off the metal. I simply replaced the plastic side via velcro sourced from local parts store. Now getting it to stick to the metal frame was an issue. The velcro kept peeling off, even after really preping the site with alcohol. I ended up cleaning the sticky, gluey side of velcro with alcohol to remove all glue. Then using superglue to adhere it to post..worked like a charm.

Hope that helps

Hi Robert. I really appreciate the response and providing a detailed solution. Unfortunately it is the opposite for me as it is Velcro fabric flap that is shot and will not engage/hold the hook side of the Velcro secured on the frame.
