I've grown tired of the little screw on lug nut caps on my car. They are thin and delicate (I've already split 3 or 4 of them just hand turning the socket) and lost another 4 when they weren't on tight enough to crack them. And they all have to come off and then back on when you change or rotate tires or clean wheels. I'd much rather just have 20 lug nuts to deal with than 40.
I've just started looking, but most of the Auto stores I've been is so far (and Walmart) only have acorn style chrome nuts that are made in China or Taiwan, and I definitely don't want that cheap chromed pot-metal junk holding my wheels on! [Made that almost fatal mistake on another car]
Can anybody recommend an auto parts or store brand that carry quality made in the US chrome lug nuts.

I don't know what you do with your caps, but mine are original and have nevr lost or damaged one
I think that MCGard lug nuts are made in the US but their wheel lock design can be a PITA if you aren't careful matching the pattern. Gorilla is another good lug nut but I'm not sure if they are USA made.
McGaurd are very good lifetime warranty for flakeing chrome and never rust, I've had them on my race car since 1996, still look new and removed alot of times, you get what you pay for with them. Most supply places can order if not in stock, or try local speed shop. I thinknthey are the best you can buy.

McGard lug nuts are made in the USA, triple chrome plated and come with a lifetime warrantee against chipping, rusting or flaking.
The best you can buy!
I had the McGuard lug nuts on another car and while they are good quality material, I hated those puzzle locks. It is very hard to put 100 lb.ft. of torque on those things and hold them straight enough while using a torque wrench to keep them from jumping out of the grove and chipping the chrome. I really don't mind just not having those locking nuts anyway.
You can get standard hex type closed end lug nuts from Mcgaurd, no fancy key to fight with or loose, also you can get chrome plastic covers, just need to hand tighten with socket, not to tight thou, I've never cracked or broke any of mine.
Some chrome lug nuts only have thin plating and chips after a few tire changes, invest in Mcgaurd nuts they are worth it. Jeggs or Summit if you can wait for shipping, they come in 4 paks so need to get 5 paks.

Think I'll look around and see if any auto or tire shops have the McGuard standard nuts without the lock. Time is not a big deal on these so no rush.
My stock lug caps had no problem staying on. They were some kind of thin chrome plated metal but they were looking kind of dingy and the PO had kind of beat them up. Wife bought me a new set for either B-Day or Christmas, but they are chrome plated plastic and are really delicate. You can crack them just twisting the socket extension by hand. They either shake loose or split. I constantly have to check them. Don't know if heat cycle or vibration does it. Guess I should have put either blue locktite or a little rtv on the threads, but now I'm short of a full set of matching ones and just tired of messing with them.
You can get McGard lugnuts from Amazon. Price will be comparable to parts stores and if you have Prime, there is no shipping fees. In most cases, no sales tax either.
