Problem with timing 1986 corvette
When I unplug the est wire and set the timing to 6 degrees it sounds good turn the car off and plug est back in the timing mark jump all around and runs bad changed engine control module every thing in the disturber ,plugs cap coil

The timing is controlled by the ECM when the EST connector is closed. Check the 4 wire harness that comes out of the back of the distributor. It goes to the ECM.
