Just fried the transmission
Took the Vette down the road and it is slipping like crazy in third and fourth. Not a pretty sound with a supercharged stroker motor.
If it is not one flippin' thing it is another...
Rather than pulling it, doing a tear down and rebuild the plan is to just replace it. A built Stage II 700R4 from GM is under $1,300; for the price difference the smart choice is to replace it, have a nice warranty and be done with it. I have a ton of luck, all of it bad

I'm in WI, but what is the stage 2 hp? Mine was built for 750+hp and broke now built stronger. A local place here can make it real strong for like 1500. Maybe shop around your area. I'd do that before off the shelf.
Also; I thought you had a th350 or 400 in your car?
I actually consider a 400 if this one breaks. OD is nice, but with the 3.45 gear in it now would not be bad. 3.73+ would be fun with a 700r but I get no traction with highway gears as it is even at 60mph roll.

The trans that went was a built PeteK 700R4, it didn't slowly go out, it just flat took a dump. As I understand it the stage two has upgraded bands, the next jump up would move to the different planetary gears -- but that is well over $2K. I could shop around, but I just want to get it done and back on the road.
My performance car is now the twin turbo HEMI Dodge, the Vette has become more of a show cruiser.

Thanks -- I love that this is a one of one build. There was a totaled SRT with almost no miles on it so we graphed that interior into the Dodge. There too many body mods to mention... I did as much as I could on the Vette, so this was the next project. It is scheduled to do a photoshoot for Mopar Muscle magazine.

Get used to replacing the turbo700R4 transmissions, they cannot handle the power for long. Have gone through 5 heavy duty rebuilt ones...... keep an eye on the half shafts, i had twisted some now have steel ones.

Sorry to pirate a C4 post; As a GM fan I'm partial to SS496's and GTO's but there is no denying a clean Mopar is eye candy. While the GM's are pretty much same-ol-same-ol a clean Road Runner or a GTX Hemi gets my attention. One of those with a hot cam and a big exhaust rattle makes the hair stand up. What does that twin turbo sound like?

This thread just makes me more depressed my car is auto. I hope someone buys it so I can buy a ZF6 car. But if not whatever. Say if I were to cam it(a small cam), ported heads, ported intake and LT headers, will I constantly be rebuilding 700r4s? I wonder if the RPM 4l60s hold up? Sorry OP, I know exactly how you feel.

Down the road I would like to get a C7, the only thing I will do to that car is put gas in it and drive
