Default C4 Quirks

I have a '96 C4 LT4, which I love. There are a couple of quirks that I would like some help in addressing. The first is the power seats. They can be moved forward, but not backward. Since I am 6'-3" this is a problem if I have it in for service and someone moves the seat. I have had the rails replaced, and tried one switch replacement, but the replacement switch was bad. Anyone know where I can get a good power seat switch? It is the 6-way one that switches between driver and passenger.

Secondly, because I am so tall the steering wheel hits my knees when I shift. Has anyone lengthened the steering column on a C4? Anything I should know about wiring, etc.?

Thanks.

Well i dont have much input but as far as troubleshooting the switch...when you try and use the switch to move the seat does the seat make noise? or is it dead silence? this will tell you if it is the switch or the seat track/motors (these commonly fail at this age and require a rebuild...i believe its a plastic part of the track that fails and can be repaired with epoxy)

the steering column...yeah not sure your in luck there. I'm 5'11 and even with the wheel tilted up as far as it goes, i hit my knees when getting in/out of the car. i dont however have issues with shifting gears...i highly doubt you can safely mod the steering column. You can do what I'm going to do though...I'm shopping for an automatic LT1 car for my regular around-town driving because the 6-speed is a pain (i'll keep that for the open road driving).

good luck and do that simple trouble shoot on the switch. something does sound a little strange though...you replaced the switch but the switch was bad as well? that seems like really bad luck or an issue somewhere down the electrical line. you may need to remove the kick panels and console covers (to get full access to the wiring harness for the console mounted switches) and perform some tests with a volt meter
