Default Rear bumper studs!

Hello! Does anyone know if you can still buy this retaining feature? I broke a few of the studs especially on the other side and now I'm worried about re-install

Good post.. I'm going to be doing this to mine soon. It's nice to see what is in there.

Can you just drill out the pop rivets and tack weld some bolts back on, or is it more complicated than that?

Hmm I'd say that is an option? But it looks like it's plastic an I'm not sure if it'll hold. Best of luck on your removal I hope you have small hands! I'm hoping someone knows of a place you can buy these then I can just rivet them on

Are you saying that the frame that holds the studs on is made of plastic?

I had the same problem with my 84. I found used good brackets on the big auction house.
Drilled out the rivets and was good to replace the brackets.

Redneck43 is the seller. Look in his store. Had both sides listed tonight.

Thanks for the replies guys! Tackwelding isn't really an option for me, so I ordered a set on eBay. But for what it's worth getting the bumper off isn't too bad, just don't strip anything. If you want some more pictures I can send them!
Thanks,

I had to fix the two that attach the side of the bumper, and I did it by tackwelding. Although simply using jb weld had crossed my mind as well.

i also had thought about JB weld but I'm too worried it'll break an I won't be able to get off the bumper

Drill out the old stud, replace with a new correct size bolt, run a flat nut (along with a thin lock or star washer) all the way down to tighten onto the bracket. No welding required.
