I changed out my knock sensors and was surprised to find that they would not come out with a socket. The socket just spun the nut section of the sensor within its self. I had to resort to a large set of channel lock pliers to grab the outer housing to get them out. The passenger side was blocked up solid while the driver side was clean and antifreeze flowed out of the block freely. I also cut up a couple of 2 liter soda bottles to deflect the anti freeze. That worked out great as I didn't make a huge mess and caught most of the coolant.
I just did mine as well. L98 only has one, but theres a pipe plug on the driver side also. I removed both. They were both clogged and needed to be poked with a small screwdriver to start the flow. I simply used large drain pans to catch the coolant. I flushed it until the water ran clear.
Also replaced the coolant temp sensor(ECU) in the manifold. Every time I do something to the car, it improves a little more. The idle seems to be much more smooth, especially when in drive... Start up is also quicker.
