Default 96 LT4 opinions

So I'm not looking for "omg im interested in that part" comments...

the other day I grabbed a 96 LT4 6 speed for $X,XXX (screw you, I won't tell a potential buyer what I paid lol). It was from a friend he said give me that many dollars and if you sell it for more then you do you. If you can't sell I'll give you your dollars back or you can part it out and keep all dollars.
So I of course took this deal. He first told me it had 70k miles.. it turned out to have 129k after I went through the hassle of taking the battery out of my 90 and putting it in the 96... you've done it... you get the pain. Shot 1.
Shot 2. It has some mold on the interior. Pics below and in the parts section. I think I can clean it up. I'm away on a business trip so... we'll see.
Shot 3. I cranked it over to try and start it but the battery I put in it only had a 10.4v charge... My bad. I haven't drove my 90 in a while.

I'm gonna post pictures of this car and I would like to see honest opinions. If you had this car would you...

A) Sell as is to make your money back or a slight profit to get the time you put in it back. Also if so what do you think it's worth.
B) Clean it up. Then try and sell it for whatever it is worth.... Do you think it can be cleaned up? Is it too far gone?
C) Part it out! It has LT4, ZF6, D44, sport seats, fx3, blaa, blaa, blaa...

I'm about to post pictures.

I want honest opinions. Thank you in advanced.

Yes the 90 is cover with a tarp. I have another project in the garage and I don't want excessive heat on the interior... It's fragile enough guys!.

but ya. What would you do. I think there is a lot of money to be made on parting it. But I really like it.

As an LT4 owner who has parted out many cars I think it would be a tragedy for a LT4 CE with a clean title and relatively little to no damage to be parted out. Don't even understand how it was allowed to get to that point. I think it could be cleaned up with some elbow grease and sold. Seems a shame to part out a one year only package and engine car.

It's fixable. The Ghost was in worse shape, and I took care of it.

OMG there are not many 96LT4s still out there, and there were never that many even when new, so, unless it's been run over by a semi and is completely beyond repair, please, please don't part it out.

I wouldn't part it out. I'd spend some time and clean and detail it really good. Check all the fluids, belt, plugs, wires, operation of all systems. Do this and you should be able to sell it at a good price to a good home. Hell if I had the money I'd buy it "as is" just to get the satisfaction of transforming it back into the jewel it once was. I agree with the "don't part it out" crowd, but it's going to need to have the interior taken out and cleaned up from all the mice crap and any damage they caused...looks like in one pict they had a field day under the passenger side and the hole in the shifter appears to be the work of mice!

I hate @#$% mice, had to take my interior apart one year to deal with them getting in over a winter! Thankfully it's not too hard of a job to do on the late model C4's.

depends what you got it for and howmuch you like it
If youre not in love wiht it detail the hell out of it flip your way out move on to something that is ready to go.
with that much moisture in the interior id worry about electronics giving you headaches later.

Looks pretty solid. 3 grand and some time with you doing the work, and you'll have a nice 96CE with a desirable engine/tranny combo... So long as it wasn't actually under water, Id roll the dice on it.

It mostly looks like it needs a good cleaning.

For almost no cost, try cleaning, polishing, waxing, protectant/leather conditioner, change the fluids, etc. Then take another look at it. From what I see, just doing that would make it look a lot better and probably pretty nice.

I bought a '96 CE LT4 as a project to do a little work on and then probably sell. I did the work and found I like driving it. Now I am changing my mind and think I will keep it.

Like others have said, it is a pretty limited number of cars like that and it would be a shame to part it out.

I would fix it or sell it.. I would not part it out

If I had the extra funds I would buy it, that would be a great project for my son and myself.

Although I am interested in a couple parts, when I first saw the pictures in the parts section I did not think the car should be parted out. I think you can either do nothing and try to make a couple bucks or put some money in it and get more. Just depends on the time you want to spend. Parting out would take more time putting some money in it for more dollars in my opinion.

Unless most of the stuff still works on it and it'll run, I'd sell it as is to get my money back.

+1 to throw some elbow grease in there and get some of the cosmetic stuff taken care of, make sure she runs and then sell.

That's assuming you don't wanna keep it. Personally I would keep that one and sell the 90

this could be a zr1 and I wouldn't get rid of the 90 for it.
