Default Anyone else got a "performance axle"?

Is the acceleration more brisk over the standard ratio? I'm running a 3:07 and notice I'm over 2k RPM at 70 MPH.

the G44 is an absolute MUST for a late model C4...i would never even consider buying an automatic without it. its DEF noticeable!

I've had THREE late model automatic C4's and the one without the G44 was whimpy...it didnt even feel like the same car. thats the point i realized how important G92 G44 is (i've had 96's with and without the G92 and YES its noticeable)

Cool, I was lucky as I didn't go through the 'codes' before purchasing. Yes it's got G44.

you WERE lucky as 1992 has the lowest % of G92 offered at only 15% as compared to
91 (L98) = 39%
92= 15% LOWEST AVAILABILITY!!!!!!!
93= 16%
94= 52%
95= 63%
96= 64%
(96 and 95 started making mechanical options more standard/common (G92 and J55))
(which is why 3 of my 4 C4's have been 95-96)

I'm also a lucky 92 AUTO owner with the G44 3.07 gear. I didn't know before purchase either but I can't imagine it with a 2.59, though I have no experience with a direct comparison.

My 1986 has a G44 rear and at 70 I'm at exactly 2000 RPMs. This pic was taken this morning 1800 at 65.

G92 being the Performance axle code means little, it triggers the G44 in many years and that is the code you want to have.

you don't have a G44 on the RPO sticker without first having a G92. I'm a little confused as to what you mean "means little..."

Actually this is not true in all years, you can order G44 separately.

G92 does not imply G44, G44 does not necessarily imply G92.

My 86 had no G92, but had G44 because it was standard with Z51. My 88 has G44 with Z52, and no G92 RPO code.

I have never shopped pre-LT1 cars so i guess the factory builds/RPO may be different for the 80's variety build. the fact that you have a G44 w/Z51 is pretty impressive no matter what the year was...so i'm envious!!!
i guess it can get a little sticky with "well if you have this then you by default get this..." like Z07 or J55 ect ect ect.
anyways i understand your point and thanks...I've just never seen these configurations in any of my RPO reading adventures.

Yes, it's really quick and with my Z51 package in addition, quite an impressive, fast, well handling machine. I owned a '95 911 6 speed and this well equipped Corvette is way more enjoyable performance-wise. It would smoke the 911 if I lined them up together, even in the mountain 'twisties' here.
