I've been going around with my car insurance company over slow claim processing, slow pay, regarding an accident my wife was in (not injured).
My hostility toward my insurance company has me re-thinking the whole legalized crime of the insurance business. I'm presently carrying "full coverage" insurance on my 96 C4 coupe. I chose full coverage insurance primarily because of the issues of theft, vandalism, weather damage. Sort of old reflexive thinking. My insurance co have been such Richard Craniums, I'm thinking more about what do I get for my money. If totalled, I'd be lucky to get $10k. Leaning toward dropping everything but liability. I would be interested to hear from some of you as to what kinds of coverage you have and your rationale.
I am not asking what you pay, nor where I might get a better price. I kind of don't care. Just for background, I have had same car insurance company >25 years. My last claim was almost 8 yrs ago when a teenage son hit a tree.
I just switched the corvette from my regular ins co (very good btw) to American Modern insurance. They specialize in classics, muscle, MC etc. I have a stated value policy and nearly all the same coverage as my DDs.
Cost is almost half.
Some stipulations apply. 3000 mile annual limit, must be garaged.

I would never go with liability only then if something happens you get nothing. I just switched to haggerty so I could get a guaranteed value, just curious How much do you think your 96 is worth?

Worth is different for different circumstances. If I were to sell it, I doubt I'd get $9 grand. Is it worth more to me? Yes. Quite a bit more. I know what's been done to it. But unless I get "agreed value" policy, I'd expect insurance to want to value it around $5K.
I have full coverage on mine. But I am thinking about going with a company like Drifter36 mentioned. I want to be able to set the value of the car for myself, not let some insurance company set it for me.
My insurance on my 86 valued at 10k is 95 dollars per 6 months with a 250 dollar deductible and 250/500k coverages. I use state farm. It is classic car ins.

Full coverage through American Collectors Insurance. Great rates, great service and rates didn't go up after an off-road excursion in the rain. Best is the agreed value which goes up every year.
My stated value is $20k. The policy is $420 per year. If I total it I get $20k which is enough to buy a decent replacement or possibly make the repairs.
As I said, I have a 3k mile per year limit which can be increased to 6k for more $.
Btw. That's with a zero deductible

I just realized my error. sorry i was eating dinner and typing this on my phone when I posted. yes that would be a lot, i just fixed it. it's 95 dollars per 6 months. I am sorry for the confusion.
I have full coverage because I want to drive it anytime I want any where I want and I do just that.
You are missing out as collectors insurance is possibly cheaper than the full coverage you are paying. Not to mention your insurance company will only give you "fair" market value, but we all know their definition of "fair" market value is different than ours.
I have collectors insurance through Condon Skelly on my C5 Z06 with agreed value at 24K. Total cost out the door is $49.72 a month. That is with a $0 deductible, unlimited mileage, 24 hour nationwide roadside assistance, uninsured/underinsured coverage. Gone are the days of only being able to drive X amount of miles per year, well for some that is.
I have my Vette and T-Bird insured through Continental Western which is part of the Berkley Group.
I have not had the need to file a claim at this time, but the rates are good and the company is easy to deal with. In fact I upped the declared value on the Vette last spring by $5K, cost me an addition $8 per 6 months.
Warrior pm adam boca at NCM here on the forum. He is the best!!
Not only explained everything thoroughly but informed us our DD policy coverage was crap, if he hadnt told us what to change we would have recently lost her recently purchased MB (hard to find) she spent 2 yrs looking for;had it 3 days before some psycho here in the bldg destroyed it!
Thank god for 0 deductible comp/glass and rental; had ours 36 days..figure @ $50 a day what that alone would run.
Fwiw State Farm was pretty good about claims worked with us on a few things when most would have kicked us to the curb (DD policy not collector)
Adam returns all calls, emails, service doesnt stop once they got your money.
