Back pressure
86 stock, 85000 miles. Been slowly losing power. New mufflers, "Y" pipe. Pulled O2 sensor, Got to high of pressure per FSM.....Delete or replace my CAT ??? No emission laws here, Just block off the hose running to motor? Going to get the rebar out tomorrow after I drop the "Y" pipe at Cat ....

What hose running to the motor? There is an inlet and outlet to the cat and there is a metal pipe that goes to the AIR system. You can delete everything you want to clean up the motor but touch that cat and the emission ***** will come after you till your children are long passed and buried. Enough of the PSA. You can delete the cat but the downside is you will have more drone. I installed a cat after I deleted it for just that reason. Supposedly if you hollow out the cat, it will be worse than if you put a straight pipe.

Why do you care how it smells? A few seconds of bad smell at worst does not bother me. OTOH, if someone is willing to do a suicide by car, it is important. You don't want a bad smell to be the last thing you notice.
