Default oil pressure access port for mechanical gauge

I have a 1988 C4 and am having oil pressure fluctuating problems.
I want to check pressure with a mechanical gauge. Is there an easy
access port on the block where i can attach it?

I don't know about easy!

I'd think that if you suspect issues you'd want to confirm the pressure at the same point that it's intended to be monitored from. L98 with all accessories I don't know how accessible the port near the timing cover is but that's a very long way from the pump.

Some have actually added a permanent fitting arrangement that's used from time to time to check. Some have even done a hose and fixed gauge I believe.

I just started it up and the pressure is back to normal. The temp was way
low though. I wonder if that is part of the problem? It was hot and muggy
here yesterday and i wasn't paying attention to the press. ga. until i was
almost home. Coolant temp. was around 208*. Weird.
Thanks for responding.
Problem is fixed. Replaced the sensor. Everything is fine. Lots of stuff
to remove to get at it. but its done.

I just removed the temp sender by the oil filter and used that port. When finished just reinstall temp sender.
