Bought my '89 with the glass top... not great thing in Southeast Georgia with triple digit heat index and black leather interior...
Honestly if I want to see the sun, it will be during the fall and spring with the top out, so I scored a correct year targa top via ebay for $250. Sure, I have to paint it and redo the liner and of course I will put new seals on it, but fortunately I can do those things.
However... I need some advice as far as "hardware" and what I need to replace on my car so that the targa will "bolt in"?
I have never had the glass top out of my car, so but I do know that it was ordered with out a targa. So I am assuming that I don't have what I need to install my recently acquired targa.
Can someone please tell me precisely what it is I may need to purchase?
..... As long as it was intended to fit an '89 , it will bolt right in using the same hardware as the acrylic top ..... Let me know how much you want for your glass top ... I'm in Florida and love the overhead view ... besides , mine has a crack in it .....

Mine is also cracked. I have a template to build an insert. I am going to do that while I am working on the targa.
What part of Florida? We have a condo in Deerfield Beach.
I also like what this guy did for his top removal. This guy came up with a system to make removing the roof top much easier. I wouldn't mind doing this on my C4:
Good call on dumping that acrylic top. Regarding those bolts, I think it is a great upgrade for those who love to remove the Targa. I recently bought a silver Targa and it will be bolted on with a 3/8' drive because I have ZERO intentions of ever removing that thing.
This shows how sure I am on not removing the targa.
