GS stripe or not??

GS stripe or not??
Thinking of installing a GS stripe and hash marks.
1996 LT4, Deep metallic purple.
Any recommendations?
Vinyl stripe kit, painting too expensive.
Thinking of Gloss black stripe, with silver hash marks. Stripe matching Blacks wheels a more sinister look.
Chime in with your thoughts and color combos!
Anyone have this stripe installed?
Where to order, or just have corvette shop do it?
Difference in vinyl quality?
Thx for info
Mike

I always liked the GS stripe so I say go for it. Black is the right color.
Now.... I'm not a fan of the hash marks; too much going on for me.

Silver? Maybe a dark gray? Gloss black will stand out against the purple so maybe a matte finish or even flat black.
Sure, paint is expensive but IMHO, it will look better and you won't have to worry about something going wrong with the adhesive. Any good body shop could lay out the stripes and do a good paint job.
IIRC, the '96 Grand Sport stripe is not the same width front to back. Might help to look at a GS and take some measurements.

I would do a matte graphite or black or maybe even purple, and I would DEFINITELY do vinyl. Paint is too permanent, and would likely deter buyers from an otherwise beautiful car.
My 2012 centennial has satin black stripes over black metallic paint, and I put satin black hash marks on it. It's not super obvious, but adds a nice subtle touch. I've thought about adding it to my 92 as well.
The 96 GS stripes are fairly complex, so be aware of that.

Personally...
I would vote for hash marks without the stripes.
Just my $0.02.

I do like the ideal of matte grey/slate , is matte tough t o clean?
With gloss black hash marks.
I already have Grandsport engine and wheels, may as well have hash marks to finish off look.

Yes big stripe right down the center.
Has anyone out there ordered and installed the GS stripe kit?
And where to get stripe kits recommendations.

I love the color but if you just gotta mess with it, I'd go silver. Skip the hash marks unless it is a GS. The C4 is sexy enough without adding phony geegaws. Consider plastidip spray. Its not the most durable but its dirt cheap and can be removed when you get tired of it.

It appears to be a 96. That would explain the LT4, assuming it is also a M6 trans.
Anyway, JMO, but since the wheels are gloss black, then the body strip and hashes (optional) would also have to be gloss black. Otherwise, I'd go with silver-gray.
I've NEVER been a fan of black mat. But, it's your car. Do what you like!
