Ready for a rewire
I would like to think Corvette World Dallas for there electrical job.
Battery kept draining over and over again for multiple reasons so I am ready to just re do this girl.
1st : Interior lights would not turn off for what ever reason - battery died fixed by the lights blowing out and not coming back on.
2nd : The main power to my spark coil was resting on the exhaust manifold, grounded out and kept killing the battery. Poor engine performance as well.
3rd : Fan will not turn off now, even if the key is out, requiring me to disconnect the battery when left in park or installing a kill switch (will do that tomorrow) I have checked all connections, must be a faulty ground.
4th : The car will die if, at 900rpm idle and warm at 202, if you turn the AC on, the engine will drop to 700, raise quickly to 1200, drop quickly to 600, come back up to 1000, then fall to 500 and die.
5th : No problem with the ac left off, ac is not over charged, I think it is an electrical problem because my lights dim HEAVILY with the change in rpm.
6th : The ******* headlights. After hours of looking over, we realized they did not run the wire for low beams on the inside of the firewall, the color of the wire changed BETWEEN the inside and the outside of the firewall, also the lights are running at different voltages for some reason. (wiring was for brights only!!!)
7th : Biggest gripe of all is how much of a rats nest it is, so many cable sheaths and protectors, wires left exposed or not plugged in, a alternator lead left exposed, many many many random terminated wires, (there is a wire that if connected to positive my engine will not turn off even with the key out!) who ever at your shop did the wiring harness, fire them.
Payed 10k for an engine, transmission, and 4 good tires and a nice frame, I want to get her spooly and roaring.
So how much can I rip out of her to make it simple as possible? I do plan on gutting the interior, replacing all the broken plastic, but the cluster bolts in separate.
Ignition system
Lights
Horn
Gauges
Fuel
Coil pack
Sensors
Do I need to lift the engine out to access any of these cables?
What gauge wire do you guys recommend?
More of an interior guide for those interested.
