Default Idle Issues

Hi all 1989 C4 Vette
few days ago the engine started to idle high, but if I hit the gas pedal it would idle down back to normal
now yesterday it wont idle at all. Irt starts and runs but if I let go the gas pedal it shuts down. So before I take it to a mechanics I thought I'd ask here
1 Throttle position sensor
2. Air control valve'

but also on the car the air intake system doesn't seem to be factory and has the Bosch name on it and there is another "relay" or something underneath ( pictures attached)

that's air impressive for any 1898 vette.

but seriously I see a ton of duck tape and I'm concerned on what bubba has done to your car. People here should help.

Bosch is an OEM supplier for many manufacturers; many parts. That's a MAF, which has a somewhat fragile heated wire that measures airflow into the engine; data used by the ECM's control. Some remove the protective screen (ome theory about increased power) but it can get dirty and might respond to spray clean with a carb cleaner. Your 'downstream' concern is for unmetered air entering the intake, which confuses the ECM.

It may have a vacuum leak(s) or a failing sensor. Are there any codes (CE light)? That 'speed tape' -NOT-, is a bad sign of proper care.
