I just bought a 85 convertible that needs a new top. When checking around for a price I am constantly told they didn't make a convertible in 85. I have one and seen many others online. I think I am going to go with a Smooth Line top. Any opinions?

I am blocked in my garage right now. I will post pics when company leaves. Thanx to all for responding. Car only has 55,000 miles. Can't wait to get it right. Paint and top
How about if you had an '85 "used door" used for the repair of an '86 car.
Snapshots ain't going to mean squat! The VIN in the windshield, the snapshot of the certification label on the driver door that matches the windshield.
Did ASC actually do some '85 "mules" I'd think so but I'd doubt you've "hands on"!
I guess you'll need to supply as requested in POST #4 a "show me" and documentation to match the claim!!

I asked for picture to see if it was in fact a convertible. Wouldn't be the first time someone called their targa a convertible. If it is, it is after market, and who knows what will fit it

happens almost daily. i'm beginning to have my suspensions about these one thread wonders.
Come on brothers I work for a living. Cut me a little slack. I do appreciate the responses. I ran the VIN it comes back 85. When I took it to a upholstry shop for him to inspect and see if he needs to order anything else seems like if it was aftermarket he could have seen it. He didn't say anything cept I need a frame also. It came with all maintenance records and receipts. There is a record for a new top installation about 17 yrs ago. There is no record of work done to the motor. Yet this thing is a beast. Alot more hp than they say for 85 or 86. 4 speed manual with the 4/3 tranny. I guess I am going to order the smooth line top for a 86

If it really is an 85 with an aftermarket conversion, I'd like to see it.
