Not sure if you had a chance to read my response on my thread regarding the best camshaft for an 88. But just in case you didn't I have a set of Hooker Super Competition SS on mine, I had them installed and the only modification that I noticed was removal of the checkvalve set up and installation of a bypass on the headers. I believe everything needed came with the headers.

2149s should go on without much problem, fitting the Hooker Y-pipe with the headers on has been a common problem though. You must leave the headers loose until you get the Y on, and then tighten to the heads.
You may also have to use a hammer to make them fit right, but they do go on.
