Clearing codes, hand held or jump in the DLC
Have a question on my 96 Corvette. I did plug in my codereader and it showed no trouble codes stored, however I seen a post about clearing TCs by grounding DLC terminal 6 to 5, three times in ten seconds. I want to think that these will do the same or is there TPSM codes that the grounding terminals 6 to 5 will clear that the handheld won’t.
I first wonder if the handheld worked because it did not even pull up the cars vin #...
What I am trying to do is figure out my TPSM because the light is on every time I start the car, mostly goes out after a drive but comesback on many a time. I hope to see if one of the sensors is not working and determine which one.
No lectures please, I know most just unplug the bulb to eliminate the light.

96 is OBD II, codes are cleared by using a scanner, however a basic handheld will not be able to read the TPMS data, you will need a higher level scanner for that.

Yes, I can confirm you are correct. I did not read any codes with my hand held scanner but I did do the grounding DLC terminal 6 to 5, three times in ten seconds and it cleared up my issue. Light comes on with ignition key for a moment, goes out and stays out.
I wasn't to crazy on doing this with the key on but I finally broke down and tried it and it worked for me. Thanks again.
