Default 96 lt4 rocker

Hello all,

I got a 96 lt4 that's chucked a rocker. Been looking for a few days now for a replacement. The one that came in today is for the smaller stud. Can anybody help with a source?

Thanks in advance

..... At the very minimum , I would do a compression test or a leak down check on that cylinder . Its very possible that the issue was caused by an over-rev or sticky intake valve . Its likely that the valve itself may be bent . A quick check would be to remove all the rockers on that head and lay a straight edge across the valve tips . You're looking for all to have similar heights .....

The push rod was straight, and looked ok. Got a new one anyway.

As far as compression/leakdown. Wasn't barking up the intake so I doubt that valve is open. Like to get the rocker handled and see how it runs.

Thanks again

Thanks but, the only crane gold for 7/16 stud is 11772-1. Not self aligning. I sent an email to summit to see if they can help me.

Mine are not self aligning. Scrap that crap or it might happen again.

Are you looking for a stock replacement? The stock LT4 studs are 10 mm.

Didn't work, will measure the stud tomorrow but haven't found anything metric on this engine or anybody talking about 10mm studs. Would be really surprised.

As far as the scorpions, none are self aligning.

If the engine is stock, they are 10mm.

as to your specific situation, assuming you want to go with stock rockers, Good F***in' Luck. While the oem rockers LOOK like anyother, they aren't; they are a one year only LT4 item that uses a 10 mm stud, and use a non adjustable pedestal mount; I had to replace two of them on my LT4 and at the time they were a dealer only item at $75 apiece; if you can even find them.

IMHO the "ears" that locate the rocker on the top of the valve stem simply aren't large enough.

if it's any help, the oem LT4 rocker arm part number is 12557779

Thanks for this info, figured if anybody would know about this car it would be here.

That is the part number that started this all. It does not exist on any shelf nationwide.

The rocker I'm hoping to make work is 19210725. Stud 12552126 with a locking nut, anybody got the part number for a nut?

Or maybe switching out the pivot to use the original stud.

I have a set of scorpion rollers, self aligning, on my vortec heads.. In the pics, you need to look at the roller and if it has the bumps and small washers on each side of the roller, they are self aligning.

I'd inspect the entire valvetrain before taking a step forward. Inspect everything that includes movement, friction or contact.

If you want to do it on the cheap, get a single screw in stud, single self aligning roller rocker and matching lock nut. but as urged elsewhere, I'd replace all the oem stuff.

I appreciate all the help. I'm going to try and press the rocker guts to into my new one tomorrow. See how that goes and make a decision Monday what parts are going to go back in it. Now I have 3 options, assuming my press job is one of them. I wish I could tell you the whole story of this car or even knew it all myself, but I can't.

Once again thanks for all the help.

Went well and feels good, obviously worn but I'll flip the center over when I put it back on. Should be a decent fix.
