i like leaving the headlights up all the time in my white 1989 coupe but I am thinking about having them wrapped to give it a unique slightly modern look. The color I am thinking is metallic charcoal by 3M. I might also do the two little side gills in the same color for balance. It's pretty neutral color with a hint of warmth that I think coordinates with the saddle interior.
I painted mine black on the old 84 that I had, interesting but I would never paint them if they were in good shape, obviously wrapping is different though!

Are you prepared to answer questions about what's wrong with your headlights? Kind of like putting "directional" wheels on backwards, 'cuz you "like 'em that way". It's your car!
As autumn approaches, I will manually rotate mine up. They'll stay up until the vernal equinox. Both are unplugged, though the passenger side still worked last time I tried.
I am done throwing money at one of the most ridiculous engineering fails ever.
I might be in the minority, but I don't consider the lights an engineering fail. Do they require upkeep? Sure. But they're all 20+ years old now. At 20+ years old, I think it's fair to have to replace some plastic parts.

As it turns out, you are. The "lucky" 40 percent. This design has a 60 percent fail rate. It does not compare favorably to the flip up headlights on other cars like say a 22+ year old Miata.
I recall seeing a lot of winking C4's back in the day too. GM finally fixed it in the C6.
My Eckler reman died one month out of warranty. I've been as entertained with C4 pop ups as I care to be. Maybe when everything else is fixed I'll have another look. Don't expect that day to arrive.

The only people that ask that Q are corvette junkies.

You might have better luck using Plasti-dip. The buckets have some tight corners that might be difficult to wrap unless you are a pro. Since you have to disassemble everything anyway, I would just paint them. I do like the color you picked, that will go with the white nicely.
If I saw mismatch colored headlight buckets that were up in the daytime I would just think you had a problem with them or the motors, replaced them and haven't gotten around to making them work correctly.
