Decent mechanic/interior Tech
un as far away as you can !!!!
But to answer your question I bought my seats off Ebay. As I am not doing a restoration but just make my daily driver more presentable i bought the leather like seats, including new foam, ready to install for $700. But if you want yours redone I think there are vendors on there that you can send yours to and have recovered ( more $$$$).

The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts

This is a little better,
I have a strange but serious situation. I have a 86 and a 78 and ever since I've had them, I've done all the maintenance on them.
Luckily so far it hasn't ever been anything too way out that I couldn't handle. I know my limits and the driver seat in the 86 needs to be redone.
I looked at America online video and that just looks way out. With the editing, I'm sure they're leaving some things out. I have to send it somewhere, but here's my situation.
I live in Bakersfield California and there is no place to take a Corvette. Before anyone says anything, forget three-wheel Chevrolet. They do not work on Corvettes but oddly hold the local Corvette club over there, go figure. There is no respectable upholstery shop over here and I know this cuz my friend took his C6 to get his seats done. The place lost his passenger seat and have the nerve to say that he came when no one was looking and took it, so that option is closed. I was just seriously wondering is there any place in Southern California that a Corvette owner can take his car to and not worry about it getting molested.
I've had my cars for years and have never come across this situation, but I can honestly admit upholstery is not my thing. I don't want it to look like crap, so it's going to have to go somewhere.
If worse comes to worse I do know you can send it to Mid America for a hefty price and have it done, but I would like for that to be the last option.
Please do not respond and saying that all Chevy dealerships are certified Corvette mechanics because I know that is not true. I went to one and he told me that my 78 was the first C3 he has ever seen with a V8 every other one he saw had a 4-cylinder. And this was the service manager! I know I'm not the first person to come across the situation so any help would be appreciated thank you

If you’ve been doing the mechanical work on your C3 and C4, there shouldn’t be anything you couldn’t handle on the seats. There’s a ton of information here and on YouTube. The consensus is to have the proper tools (Hog ring kit), spend the extra cash for new foam, and take your time.
The seats in your C4 are identical; there’s no left or right. You can do one at a time on the kitchen table and still have a driver.
If you have Sport Seats, now would also be a good time to replace the lumbar bladders with blood pressure cuff (an ingenious and inexpensive

There are other videos out there that explain the process better. Do a YouTube search. The job is not too difficult.
