Adding grease zerks
I have a 96 base. Saw on youtube methods to add a grease zerk to sealed tie rod ends. Seems very simple and to me makes sense. I know they are lifetime lubricated but they are 21 years old and the grease can't be fresh. Anyone done this? Dan

I would just replace them with new ones. Most replacements have grease fittings already in them, and they are cheap enough.

I'm wary, given the cheapening of replacement parts and nor real guarantee that new will last as long as the originals. This is reported despite once quality-assured American brands.
If there is no play or leakage in the ends, I'd not solve a problem that doesn't exist, but might be arise.

I'd be wary of drilling into the tie rod ends. If the drill(s) don't damage them internally, there will certainly be some steel shavings from the drilling process that remain in the grease present inside. I can't imagine they would be good for the ends.
That said, with 30-year old ends, it probably won't hurt much.
