No such thing. 96 had Lt-1 or Lt-4.

Young man here in town put an LS2 in his 1995, did a very clean installation, and says he'd have to get $17,000 for it if he ever decided to sell.

Either the seller is trying to put one over on a newbie Corvette buyer or it could be that an LS2 engine swap may have been done at some point.
But as mentioned, the 1996 C4 models came stock with either an LT1 with an auto trans or an LT4 with a 6-speed manual trans. There was no LSx engine in the C4 as a stock powerplant.

Troll people, OP will never return....otherwise OP probably would have returned by now to correct mistake or ask more questions.
These types of post have been happening a lot lately.

So being a newbie Corvette owner but by no means a novice car guy I have a question of some here on the forum. The LT4 which only came with the 6 spd manual. How easy/hard is it to take the LT4 and put behind a normal auto? Also what tell tale differences in looking at the engine aesthetically between the 2? I ask as a guy I know has an LT4 (he says) in a hot rod he built but does not have a 6 spd transmission (which I would have expected to swap over as well?)
I've noted that many parts for years have both LT1 and LT4 listed for fitment.
Thanks

Here's a good explanation of all the differences:
http://www.grandsportregistry.com/lt1vslt4.htm
Externally, the LT4 has a red intake manifold and no EGR valve. However, it's easy to powder coat an LT1 manifold and remove the EGR so that's no guarantee. Internally, you can pop the oil fill cap and peek inside the valve cover to look at the rocker arms. The LT4 has 1.6 ratio roller rockers. Again, someone could do internal engine work on an LT1 and install the rollers.
It's certainly unusual for someone to put an automatic transmission behind an LT4 but there's technically no reason it can't be done.

Most of the differences are internal and not visible. The stuff that is visible is generally pretty easy to replicate on an LT1 so it's no guarantee to do a visual inspection.

You can also open the oil cap and see "LT4" on the head. It is amazing how many cars I see that have an "LT4 hot cam" and a red manifold and they all say they have an LT4, mostly Camaros.

The only thing that will identify a true LT4 car is the VIN. If the 8th digit is not a 5 then the car never came with the LT4. All LT4 cars were equipped with the 6 speed manual transmission.

Yeah, I'm seeing it on the Colorado forum too...have to wonder if the forum owners do it on purpose to up post counts in forums for advertisement reasons...otherwise whats the purpose of trolling for such a useless question???

Melting Slicks
My dream car is a corvette that ran on pixie dust and dilitheum crystals; I heard a few were made, but they are very rare
