Wrong. It is a valuable insurance claim. Let's say I insure it and let's say it "fell off a cliff" or got stolen. Let's say I cash the check and sell it to some sleazy junkyard. They crush it for scrap iron, I get the check, everybody's happy.

IIRC, years ago when Katrina hit and the gas prices skyrocketed, people were selling their paid for SUV for a smaller car in an attempt to avoid the sticker shock at the pump. That dropped SUV prices till many owners were "upside down" on their loans. There were quite a few cases of insurance claims which were suspicious and we can conclude even more that were successful.
I'm afraid that is all that car is worth if you want max dollar. A fraudulent insurance claim
