Avg. Driving I do is about 110 MPH. It helps to have the autobahn to drive on. If I want to get up and go. 135 MPH I could go faster but I just got the vette not to long, ago I don’t want to kill my self. :seeya :flag :seeya
My personal best was 370 miles (North Atlanta to Jacksonville, FL) in 4 hours exactly including a stop for gas. Amazing what one might do to get to a New Years party. ;)

I would love to drive the autobahn one day, it must be nice to be able to drive at a speed you feel comfortable at  Around here on interstate you have to keep it below 80 because tickets are very likely, even if you have a great radar detector you have to be on the lookout constantly. Just once to be able to drive without watching the detector...
My best is average 145.00939 that is 90 miles in 37min 14.468 sec. This during an open road race where I was trying to average 145mph. So that means I was 0.14 sec off a perfect time. You folks that like to drive fast ought to give this a try. goto http://www.openroadracing.com or http://www.silverstateclassic.com since you can't go to the Autoban. The next race is May 2003, so you have plenty of time to get ready.

I can't speak for anybody else, but this US boy sure is jealous that you hav daily access to the autobahn. Good work. Definitely learn your vette before you take her to the limit.

I heard that! I've had my '96 LT1 (only) to 110mph and that was for a relatively short distance, and even THEN I half expected some state cop to come swooping down on me with "book" in hand.
When I first came to Iowa, I traveled the distance of 90 miles from Des Moines to Iowa City in about 75 minutes, but that wasn't in a 'vette.
When I bought my '96 a couple months ago, I made the 1100 mile trip from Richmond Virginia to Des Moines in 16 hours on 2 1/2 tankfulls of fuel, averaging 31 (actually 30.6) mpg at an AVERAGE overall speed, including pit stops and fuel-ups of 69 mph.
Needless to say, I was impressed with Corvettes right from the git-go.

You know I am not sure what my gas mileage is. But thanks for giving me an excuse for driving. I will go find out here in a few and report back.[ :seeya :flag :seeya

Re: Best Avg. MPH (VETHEAD JR)
I'm averaging maybe 3 or 4 mph... that's 0.108 gallons per mile so far on this tank, all city driving. That's better mileage than everyone of you guys!!! When I'm not sitting in traffic, I'm discovering my car's limits. I do my part to keep demand for gasoline up.
