Need help! I've been troubleshooting why my headlight switch, information buttons, and climate control buttons are not lighting up? I've replaced the bulbs, all fuses look good in the panel on the passenger side. Is there something I'm missing? All of their lights appear to turn on. Somebody had put in and aftermarket Kenwood stereo, and I don't know if this has something to do with it or not?
Yep, my guess is the person who put in the aftermarket stereo left off a part of harness that loops in all the lights. This would be the wire connection that allows the lights to dim with your head light adjuster. Without the proper connection, the lights will not... light up.
If you take it apart you will find your problem. Find the lose wire and ground it and I bet your lights will work.
Well that is somewhat good news. I pretty much narrowed it down to something in that area. Can you give me any hints as to what it looks like or where I can trace it?
I'm not sure on your year, but on my '91 FSM it shows a purple and white wire.
I guess my next question is before I tackle this, do I need to use NE half watt resistors between the purple white wire and the head unit? I know I had to in order 2 get rid of my LCD sys error. Or can I just wire it directly to the head unit?
