my F-I-L's 84 when the headlights close the drivers side motor keeps running, but the light is in the down/closed position, that motor is a newly replaced for another issue. I know it is different than my 90.
Ideas on what to try or replace?
Thanks

If you can manually rotate the **** on top of the motor and open the light, the "pellets" are no good. If you can't then look for a problem with the linkage between the motor and light housing.
motor goes up fine.. goes down fine.. when it hit the stop, the motor keeps running
I think it might be the isolation relay.. worth the $25 to try
I'd think the internal switching of the motor - is the "newly" replaced motor new, reman or used? If it's new or reman with warranty I'd be inclined to contact the vendor.
both the right and the newer left worked without issue when i installed it last summer. he has always had left side issues prior to this one, which is why I lean towards the relay that senses when the motors should stop. When I am not as limited with my crutches, I will check it more in depth

Sorry, this is bad info.
1. The manual control ***** on the '84 motors is on the bottom of the motor, not the top. The '88-'96 motors have the ***** on the top.
2. There are no "pellets" in the '84 motors, only the '88-'96 have "pellets".
The only way an '84 motor could continue to run is if the gears are stripped. You say this is a "new" motor. Somehow I doubt that.
Motor assembly was probably remanufactured.. It worked 100% correct when I installed it last year. I currently am unable to work on it to find the issue. As stated, there was a different issue, which led to the replacement of the motor.
When I am able I will troubleshoot and find the cause.
I already knew it was not the pellets, those are in my 90 motors.
