My 18 yo son & his best friend started work on a 1992 C4 Corvette and are now discouraged. Looking at what they've torn apart (dash is off...lots of wires everywhere), it would cost $$$ to have a shop fix it and I'd rather find someone that could help them figure it out. Where would be the best source to locate someone with the time & skill (assuming Corvette specific experience helps) that would work for reasonable rate? We are in Fresno, CA
Basketcases are going to be tough, a lot of techs won't touch them. You couldd send the children out to where the gearheads hang out to find a better Chevrolet tech meanwhile get factory service manuals. Other choice Christmas is coming try Craig's or Angies list for a certified tech that moonlights. Local Corvette or sports car clubs another place to look.
Did they take pictures as they were disassembling things?
What's their skill level? It would be frustrating for someone to help out a beginner that took things apart without being methodical.
Joining a local Vette club would be a good way of meeting some other C4 owners that may be willing to help, or at least get a good shop recommendation.
