Default KIDDE Recalling 40 Million Fire Extinguishers

Small vehicle and watercraft. Exactly the style we have in our cars.
Better check yours. I checked all of mine and found two. Entered the serial numbers and two new ones are on their way.

A lot of these smaller extinguishers DO NOT have a date code as described at the site. Does not matter, just enter the Model Number and Serial Number, leave the Date Code blank. It will accept that much info. I've found a total of three affected extinguishers among all of mine.
I posted this info on every automotive site where I'm a member and it's not surprising how many guys have units that qualify for replacement.
This recall covers units from 1973-2017. 44 years, that's a LOT of extinguishers!

Mine was dated 1981, had no serial number any where on it, had some hassle but finally agreed to send one.

Count me in for two as well. How did they have 20 years of defective parts?

One of mine was purchased in October for my son's new apartment.

Called the KIDDIE number on the 2nd of November and I received my new extinguisher in the mail today.

for KIDDIE

P.S. I HATE those Styrofoam, static clinging peanuts that the new one was packed in.

Kidde toll-free at 855-271-0773 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. ET Monday through Friday,

I had to call to make sure they are sending them. Just entering on the site was not enough.

Well, as I said on the 8th of November, I received my replacement extinguisher.

Well, today ANOTHER brand NEW KIDDIE Extinguisher showed up in the mail along with a fully paid UPS return sticker.

So I packed my old one in the box and will mail it back tomorrow.

Not bad, One bad one back for two new ones.

How long are you guys waiting for the replacement? Don’t have mine yet - 10 days, which isn’t all that long I suppose. Not confident that the guy took my address down correctly as I had to spell Connecticut for him several times when he didn’t know what the abbreviation ‘CT’ meant

Received 2 today. I think you need to leave the yellow tie on so the pin stays put.
