For me, it's the salt that will have me put the car away until spring. Getting caught in the rain is not a big deal, but the cleanup can be a pain.

As far as cold goes, so what.
I've always driven mine up to the first snow fall, then it goes away until spring after the salt is washed off the roads
I avoid driving in the rain as much as possible. It's not because of cleaning up after or anything to do with my car. It's because drivers out here are unused to inclement weather and don't drive accordingly. Heard too many stories of one accident and the insurance company totaled the car. Plus we have plenty of days with clear and nice weather to drive in the desert.

as long as the roads are clean and clear temps are not a concern - hell I use to drive my T Bucket when it was in the 30's

Or the connector for the wiper is wonky. Or the defrost doesn't work cuz the heater core is bypassed. Or a mixture of these factors like mine.

I don't mind driving it in light rain, but in a real downpour, it can be a handful. windows fog up, the wipers aren't great, and it's a light weight rwd relatively high powered vehicle.

Hard to handle the car with slicks in the rain.

That definitely is no fun. Mine has leaks even with the new weatherstrip kit. Had a couple of Corvette people try to fix it but they could only get it good but it still leaks. It has air coming in over 50mph or at least you can hear the air noise. The other day, it was raining and it leaked on both seats. Taking it to a high pressure car wash? Take soap and your loofa or whatever pouf you use. You WILL get a bath. Brush wash? Some will spray in but you will be relatively dry.

As with many others, my issue is more with wet weather than with cold temps. Had the back end step out on me too many times on a wet road. Also I don't have much of an issue with temps in my area... I don't think so anyway? Coldest is about 30F and hottest is about 110F. Plus I have the luxury of storing all my vehicles in a garage.

That's either the tires or your heavy foot or a combination of both

You wouldn't buy a car with over 200 hp if you don't have a heavy foot.

You are right about the tires. The tires mounted when this happened were far beyond a reasonable replacement window and the rubber was pretty hard. I also should mention that I was in a turn at the time.

Of course I was trying hard to be gentle with the throttle, being on wet pavement in a turn. But even a bit of extra throttle would cause wheelspin and exciting drift-action. Must have been the tires, although I have not driven on wet roads with the new rubber (by choice).

But you have to know better when traction is limited.

Don't worry. The laws of physics are, unlike man's laws, inviolable.
