Hi all I'm new to the forum,
I just bought a 96ce with the Lt4. It has only 20389 k. Looks and drives perfect... but after a few miles a very odd clicking noise is coming from near the drivers side cat .. I put it on a friends lift and attached a video

Check for loose heat shields or other pieces that are not fastened properly. Check everywhere.
Doesn't sound like a rod knock to me.

I agree. Sounds way to "Tinnie" to be anything other.

Can you try pulling on the exhaust (gloves) to see if the noise goes away?
Also it almost sounds like it's coming from inside the CAT ... maybe a chunk is busted out and rattling.

I am not sure what the noise is either, but suspect the internals of the cat.
And Welcome to the forum.
We like pictures, show us your car and tell us more about it.
(I also have a '96 CE LT4 and they are great cars).

Definitely sounds like something coming from inside the cat. I wonder if you held something against it, like a ratchet handle, to get any feedback from the knocking.

The part number 1052 000 0089 indicates it is the correct transmission for a '95 or '96.
I am a little surprised to see a rebuilt tag for a car that only has 20k miles. I had a '94 that had those extra tags, but mine had about 100k on it when I bought it. It worked fine for me for about 50k miles until I sold the car, so I wouldn't be concerned with it either.

Probably the original owner was a crybaby whiner and the dealer replaced it under the factory warranty for a noise complaint.

The rebuild tags say ZF everywhere so you are golden. Also, that transmission case looks brand new, clean enough to eat off. Wish mine looked like that.
