Default Interior change

Thinking of swapping tan door panels and carpet (maybe seats too) in place of the original all-black. I’d leave he dash alone.

No real reason to do so other than cosmetic; the car is an immaculate creampuff with 30k on it, and my personal taste is that a two-tone interior would take the Admiral Blue up a notch.

Curious to know if anyone here has done such a thing, and what kind if costs/bumps I might expect.

Thanks!

J.

Of course it's been done. Cost is based on your shopping abilities and labor abilities.

I'd go red with a blue car, but... black is great.

The PO of mine changed the interior from red to black. The color is fine with me, however, the people that did the changing did not have a clue how to work on corvettes. broken, cracked trim, along with missing and wrong fasteners everywhere.

If your door panels are in good shape, I'd consider repainting them. Door panels are expensive. I've been looking at them to replace mine which are saggy, and most of them are $300 a piece for used ones.

I guess that some people missed that your interior is already all black.

You are right, no need to do anything to the dash pad as they were all black regardless of the rest of the interior. The seat covers and the carpet will swap right out. Don't know if you have the sport seats or not. One thing to note with the sport seats is that you cannot simply replace the leather... they (94 - 96) come only one way and that is with the foam inserts already glued to the leather thus... they are more expensive.

The trans tunnel carpet is glued to the plastic pieces that get mounted to the center console sides.

If you are going to go to the trouble of changing out the interior there are a number of good write ups here on the forum from folks who have done this.

If the interior door panels are in good condition you should be able to take them to any auto upholstery shop and have them resprayed / redyed to a different color. You can buy new reproductions or even find NOS interior door panels but they are almost $500.00 each

I changed my interior color from med gray to red. I painted the door panels. (28.00 for paint) I replaced the carpet set with red carpet. $315.00 shipped from Rock auto). The door panels were in good shape and the paint worked great. I went with Mid-America Corvette vinyl dye in aerosol cans.

The total cost was around $350.00 for the materials. I also had recovered my seats with red leather covers. I got a great deal on them for $278.00 for a total price of $628.00. I had a set of red seat belts I had traded for years ago.

My C4 is black and the red interior IMHO just made the car look much better.
