I have a buffer on my bench grinder. I use all those fancy jewler's compounds. There are a lot of supplies out there........ go to the Eastwood company web site....... I don't know if they show it on line but the stuff is in the paper catalog........ all kinds of buffs and compounds. I like to do a lot of my work in advance of tearing stuff down.......... I filed my runners and plenum before I pulled it apart so I had less work to do ......... after filing you can do all your sanding too......... the engine will look like crap for a while but next spring it'll be fine........ good time to fix that intake coolant leak  The valve covers are magnesium on mine and don't saty nice if they get water on them ........ but Mothers cleans them right back....... BUT there was a LOT of filing, scraping and sanding on those suckers to get them the way you see them in my sig.......... there are all sorts of things on an L-98 to polish and once you get the bug ya can't quit ........ I'm deatailing my upper control arms now in preparation of urethane bushings :seeya
