Daily Driving
I own a 93 C4 LT1 Automatic and currently only own this car. I have been daily driving it and was wondering if there's any tips you guys can give to improve my mpg and maintain it. My mpg dropped to around 7.8 since I fixed the AC. I plan to keep this car for the next 6 at least. Send help!

something must be wrong with your car to get 7.8. are you just hot roding every where you go? is your check engine light on? you leaving it in overdrive?

Damn that is bad! I get 16-18mpg city and 26 hwy. I have a 94 auto and my MPG is with driving without the OD up to 50mph city. I agree that 7-8mpg means a serious issue. Bad injectors, clogged air filter. List is long in the things it could be. Take it to a mechanic and have it thoroughly checked out. Best of luck!

7.8 indicates to me your cats are plugged or you need to change your Oxygen sensors, likely both at this point if the O2s have ruined the cats.
Note that O2 sensor failure does not always set a code.

What I want to know is... does it run OK? I would imagine some driveability issues... rough idle, hesitation, run-on... any number of irritations could come along with such heavy fuel consumption.

Location is everything. Here in NYC I'll get around 10mpg in town just from sitting in traffic. I could see that dipping lower if I used the AC a lot. I never calculated with mt Corvette but in my other cars I've owned (LS2 GTO, LT1 Impala) that's how it was.

I'd recommend releasing the parking brake before you drive it, that should improve your fuel economy.
Seriously, I would recommnd getting the cats, o2 sesnsors, fuel pressure regulator, and plugs and wires checked out and replacrd. You're getting seriously bad fuel economy.

First step is to pull any codes it is throwing and address them. It could also be very useful to use a data-logging program to make sure the O2 sensors, fuel trims, ignition timing, and other things are in the correct ranges. It's not hard to imagine that some sensor or vacuum hose got removed or knocked off during the a/c repair, and so I'd check over all of that too.

Someone sold you a line. All that would cause your car to do is overheat. A t-state can be changed out in less then a half hour

Thermostats seldom stick open.
Sounds like you need to get a better explanation- if you are serious.
