Default glass window top

I recently had my top replaced on my '87 convertible. I went from a plastic to a glass window. I was told by installer to use care and that I would have to lift the glass from the inside to make sure it rides over the second bow when opening and closing. Seems very fishy and that I am being set up to fail. Is this a normal tendency of this glass window or am I getting screwed? I know these tops are fastidious but this seems ridiculous. Any advice before I break this would be a help. Thanks. By the way, this is my first time using the forum so be gentle with me.

I have an 88 and had the plastic window top replaced with a glass to back around 2000. Sounds to me like they didn't replace (or modify) your existing frame to fit the new top. I believe the glass top required different folding points in the frame. I put my top up and down the same way I did when it was plastic. I don't have to do anything from the inside. I do remember them telling me not to slam the deck lid down as the new top was tight and "could" crack the glass, but other than that mine still looks and operates the way it did when installed 17 yrs ago.

So yea, do some research on the frame... I think that's the problem.
