these are the only publications I know of that has step-by-step, detail on the C4 - volume 6 covers the rear quarters, rear bumper, doors...

good books - informative - hard to find used (hardcopy) - also available on CD.

here's their website for new -

I think b/c they're not really designed to come off. They're glued on to the rear tub. I just took all of this stuff of an '89 I'm working on...I broke/ruined most of it in the process, but I learned how I would do it next time to preserve the parts.

After you remove the inner fender well, carpet, trim, weather stripping, etc, you can see where the 1/4 panel seam is glued to the tub. If you get a heat gun and heat the glued seam, it that allows you to pull the panels apart with out breaking or tearing them . That's the best advice that I can give you; use heat. Heat it up. Heat helps...a lot.

Thanks for the tip. In a couple of years I'm going to pull the passenger rear quarter (to replace) and that will be a big help.

Thanks! That is exactly the Info I was looking for. I don’t care if I break the old one off but I want to be able to glue the replacement on. So shouldn’t be too big of an issue then?

Default Quarter panel install Part 1

I have officially started the process of removing and installing the
rear quarter panel. I will continue to post pictures until the project is done. I put my heat gun to work and was able to pull most of the fender off by hand.
