I removed my OEM Bose from my 88 to have it worked on. I noticed that the inside rear view mirror lights that come on when you turn your lights on to light up your drink cup holder and shifter, don't come on. :cry
Does anyone know if these lights are also connected in some why to the radio? I know that since I removed the radio my electronic climite control lights, the inside and outside temp numbers do not dim.

Re: Mirror Lights (884fun)
Yes they are on the same circuit as the clock in the radio. Sometimes also identified as constant 12v. If your Bose is out of the car and you didn't replace it with and aftermarket unit you will not have lots of interior lighting until you replace it.
If you ever blow the fuse its labeled CTSY/CLK in the fuse panel (I know, mine has blown 3 times this year)
I beleive they are. It would easily explain how everytime the fuse for my radio blows I loose interior lights as well.
Thanks a lot! :smash: :smash:
The Bose isn't the best :nonod: but all I really need/use the radio for is the morning traffic report so when I get off work I can pick the route that I'm going to take home and avoid all of the hassles of traffic jams. :yesnod: :yesnod:

Do you know what color the wire is that goes to the lights?
I'm using a converter (with a bad filter system, cheap unit but not a cheap price) and I have a wire for "Illumination" and I don't have any thing to plug into it or attach it to any other wire. Maybe this would supply power to the mirror lights??
I"m going to get the OEM fixed and reinstall it then everything will be back looking and working like it should.

Re: Mirror Lights (884fun)
I'd have to look and double check, but my memory tells me it was a yellow or orange wire. In the radio harness there are two wires in a connector that are seperate from the three connectors for the speakers, etc. It was one of those two wires. You may want to check your aftermarket stereo and see if it in any way can take a dimmer connection.

Traffic jams in Oregon??? I was there (Portland and Astoria) for vacation a few years ago and it was seldom I saw 3 cars at once  Just kidding but if you want reallllly bad traffic try down south here in cali....and most of the time there are no alternate routes other than surface streets
And I think its a really bad design to have interior lighting routed thru the radio...what were they thinking?!?! :blueangel:
