Have a gas leak on my 87 coupe right near the fuel filter. I was going to replace the filter last summer but didn’t get around to it. I just swapped out the fuel filter thinking the leak might be a lose fitting. No luck, after replacing the fuel filter I still have a leak. It appears to be above the fuel filter and is dripping onto the filter.
I'm stumped, I just raised the cars a few more inches off the ground and adjusted the jack stands. When I warm up I'll crawl back under the car to see what is leaking.
I wish it would have started leaking last summer instead of the cold winter. Its snowing so I have to work in the attached garage. Battery is disconnected and there are no open flames......
I'm guessing it is condensation from the AC or Defrost (which runs the AC). I don't believe that there is anything with gas in it, above the fuel filter.
Yes a pic would be good.
Two things though. Check to make sure the O-ring on the fittings to the filter are in good shape. And while you're under there follow the fuel line up to the rubber section at the front of the engine and see if that's good. Thinking it could be a small leak running down the line to the filter area.
I checked the front of the block and those connections are bone dry. I'll take a picture this week. The evap canister is in the front drivers side so that’s not it.
The device above the fuel filter is definitely leaking fuel. I stick my hand up there and touch it and my hand is wet with gas. I'm the 4th owner, no telling what was hacked into the car by the previous owners.
