-14 to -17 the last couple of days here. That was actual temps, not wind chills.

Right now at 8:51am it is 1 deg F just a bit west of Akron and Barbertucky Ohio. We are supposed to hit -9 by next Friday.

You know, I have been out hunting in the mid -20's with a windchill of -50 :-) so all the whining/complaining about 20 deg just makes me smile.

BUT BUT BUT I cannot tolerate your hot and humid summers. It is bad enough here in Ohio when it hits the upper 90's and the humidity is high (usually for just a week or 2 in August).

So you all would be laughing at me then. It is all a matter of perspective.

Just be glad that none of us (that have posted so far) live in Erie Pa. The snow machine off the Great Lakes (especially Lake Erie whose temps the other day was still 41 deg) has been running since Dec 24th. In the news the other day, it was reported that Erie Pa. would have 7 ft of wet heavy snow on the ground by today. They were hovering around the 6 ft depth when the news report was made.

This is the story, watch the video on it if you want to see hell.

However, we still love Nick Sabin

Even here in South Mississippi rain Saturday and fairly chilly for this area supposed to be in low 20s to teens next two nights. I might take it out for a spin later who knows.

Good move. I am still in Illinois, but hope to get out this year (2018). That has a really good sound to it.

Going out on the annual Model T Club's New Years Day tour. We will be taking the 1962 Thunderbird. The temps are supposed to reach a balmy 43 today.

Aaah... Suck it up, buttercup! -14ºF right now south of I-80 in IL. We're talkin' no driving until March/April!

My daughter is campaigning to get me to move to FL. Right now, I wish I had taken her up on it!

On the upside, it makes one all the more appreciative when "driving season" is upon us. But, it's hard to parlay that into being as good as y'all have it down thar.

My friend lives in Alberta Ca. He told me it was -35 the other day. A couple years ago they (the company) had them out working in -40, but started to get concerned that the equipment would break.

I feel your pain. Here in San Antonio sometimes it's three or four days without my Corvette fix. Do you think I should put it up on blocks or anything it I don't drive it for a week? Sometimes it gets down into the 40's in the garage.

It snowed there in San Antonio just shortly ago. I know, my daughter called us to tell her mother and I and sent some pictures. My son-in-law is stationed at Lackland AFB.

we would like the mountains of western NC (a bit more like Ohio, can't stand the flatlands) or the NE coast of Florida near Jacksonville. I really like the St Augustine area.

my wife is involved in a program at the hospital that is sort of breaking new ground. in another year she will be able to set the same program up at other hospitals if there is an interest. then we are going to go.

That sounds like normal ops on the flightline back in the days of SAC. When it hit -30 we had to stay in pairs. When it hit -45 we worked Alert A/C only. IIRC we quit if it hit -60 since the planes weren't going to fly something about the fuel not flowing.

We had one of these cold snaps a few years back. The only thing harder to find other than bread and milk, were antifreeze testers.

I was at the local parts store and around 7 or 8 people came in looking for them in 15 minutes. The guys said it had been that way all day.

On the up side we're forecast for near 60 by the weekend.

Ive been to Palm Coast.... it was a very depressed area with alot of vacant homes that were abandoned because of the bad mortgages of the mid 2000's. Nice homes, but none the less, vagrants had started taking up residence in some of them near where I was staying....

...and just where were you supposedly staying in PC? I doubt it was a bad as you're making it out to be, with the vagrants, and all, so i'll have to throw out the flag on this one. as far as abandoned homes bad mortgages, to a certain extent, that was happening all over the country, not just PC. IF THERE WERE, and there may have been some isolated cases (wasn't here back in the mid 2000's), but I can tell you right now, it's far from depressed, - we're in the midst of a housing and construction boom and it's nothing like you're making it out to be. now, you want to talk about depressed, lets talk colorado. I was in Breckenridge back in 2008 for the corvette of the rockies event - half of your pine trees, and we're talking a lot of phuckin trees, but half were dead from some sort of mountain pine beetle epidemic. instead of green, there was a whole lot of brown. now, dead and brown, that's depressing, and if you think that's BS, google "colorado pine beetle kill." here's a cut and paste for you -
“That's our new forest. Now, I would much rather have a new forest without 800 million dead trees standing all over it.” Among the key findings: • Colorado's mountain pine beetle epidemic killed trees across 3.4 million acres. • The continuing spruce beetle epidemic has killed trees across 1.7 million acres

stay warm my friend....
