Default Dog Bone Cleaning

Since its unseasonably cold for the past three weeks.
I decided to clean the strut bars and dog bones. I was planning on having them powder coated or polished. After cleaning with Etch One,
steel wool, and simple green. They came out very good. I might just leave them alone. I will probably clean them one more time. The fumes from Etch One are strong, keep your area well ventilated.

Looks very nice. I used Brillo pads and scrubbed the ones from my '84 to almost the same luster (your etched ones look a little nicer) and avoided the fumes. Are you replacing the bushings? If yes, you have a large part of the work done.

The plan was to replace the bushings. I purchased the dog bones and the strut arms from a member. That way I wouldn't have to lay the car up until I'm ready to install them. I'm installing poly bushings very soon. Just waiting for it to warm up to at least 35!!!! This 10 degree weather is horrible!!!!!! It's usually this cold in February here!!!!! Screwed up all my plans!!!

Well heck you've already done all the prep work with the simple green and the steel wool. Now use some mothers aluminum polish and they'll really shine.

Looks great.

You used Eagle One Etching Mag Wheel Cleaner Spray, right? That stuff is amazing. I can't believe how well, and easily, it cleaned up my suspension.

And, this weather is brutal. 10* below here in WI today. I can't even think about working on the Vette in this cold

Yes I used Etch Mag Cleaner Spray. I never put my car away unless they pour salt all over. So, I guess it won't be coming out anytime soon!!!!

I might give it a try. Its easy now but; when they are on the car. I think polishing would be a little difficult.

I did the same thing! I bought a pair of trailing arms from the auction site for about $30 and removed the old bushings, polished the aluminum and installed the poly. Then I swapped them on one side of the Corvette and repeated the process. As a result, the car was never up on jack stands for more than an hour or so. I plan to sell the excess trailing arms back on the auction site to get my $30 back! LOL
My next winter project is replacing sway bar bushings!
