Hi guys, just picked up a real clean dash cover with all mounting locations in tact. Swapping it seems pretty straight forward especially having one in hand to model. However there is a gasket between the dash and windshield that shows signs of deterioration. Has anyone encountered the same issue and if so what did you use to replace it. My dash is curled at the windshield so i'm not sure if rhe cover slides over or under that seal. ÷(
I went through this in DETAIL about a decade ago. The gasket is put in with the windshield... it is really just a piece of foam. There is a bulk GM part number but you can get it at any windshield shop. 99.9 percent of the time it can only be replaced by pulling the windshield. I was going to replace it when I rebuilt my 95's upper pad. I had a small business going for a while refurbishing late C4 Dash pads from curling and peeling and warping. Just be sure to put the velvet rub strips back in place - you can't see them they are just for noise control, on the sides of the dash pad by the a - pillar inside trim

thank you! im gonna leave the rubber alone. my windshield has been renewed by the previous owner, and i just did the pillar seals so hopefully it'll be ok when i get the pad off. Is it necessary to remove the pillar trim? Also it looks pretty easy was it? the fear of the unknown always comes in to play 9 times out of 10 are no big deal go patriots
The pillar trim does not have to be removed. I do recommend a factory service manual, not a Haynes, to help you with the R and I . It is not hard ONCE you have done it a few times (or a few hundred- I think 1 hour is my best time out and in) but it has a lot of little 7mm screw, torx, and trim that needs to come off in a certain order plus you can scratch steering column and cluster trim. I do recommend removing the armrest cover shifter cover , radio bezel, cluster bezel and and drop the steering column or scrapes and cuts are likely. Also there are hidden screws in the center top vent area and the whole pad has a row of hidden 7mm screws...you will swear you have them all when you hear the mounting tab breaking off. Also be sure to remove the light control switch on the left side
