I've added a remote entry system to a couple of previous cars. Is it possible to install one of those aftermarket systems in the Corvette (1995)? I have no remote so I don't know if the VAT system is working.
I recently added one to my 89. I posted a how-to here. It should at least let you know what you're in for. And I recommend verifying your wiring diagram against mine, there may be differences.
VATS isn't a consideration, but the PKE system is. Many people have had problems with aftermarket systems, I wouldn't recommend it (for whatever that's worth).
VAT system has nothing to do with the remote.
If you want to find out if your PKE module is still working just go through the programming steps in the owners manual. If you can get to step 5 and the light begins to blink you can be 99% sure that a factory fob would work.

[QUOTE=ihatebarkingdogs;1596537546]Yes and no. In a 90-up, both the VATS and the alarm functions and logic are incorporated into the CCM. In a PKE car (93-96) the PKE module sends a "disarm" signal to the CCM to disarm the alarm.
When the CCM receives this "disarm" command from the PKE it disarms the alarm AND allows the VATS section to send the "ok to start" signal to the PCM.
So if you arm the alarm with the inside power locks, but the CCM doesn't receive the disarm signal from the PKE, both the alarm and the VATS fuel-disable will be activated.
I didn't realize this. So how then can people drive their C4s after they lose their fob or the PKE module goes bad?
